Some ethical principles in my work

• All of my clients have the right to ask to have access to information about me. Conversely I should be afforded the same right. Above all Quality is my first duty. I have always committed myself fully to my work in order to ensure my clients are satisfied.

• I translate only into my mother tongue, Italian. I can also translate into English and Portuguese, but only when I am assisted fully by my proofreaders.

• I can therefore produce a good pure text checked, and edited where needed, by a mother tongue professional.

• Translated texts are subject to spell check, editing, proofreading, formatting and conversion. Final documents shall be reviewed once again and sent to the client.

• Delivered source materials are reviewed and analyzed. Ambiguous details are pointed out and negotiated with the client.

• I feel deadlines must come above all else, and may only be amended in cases of force majeure. By the same theory, agreed payment terms are deemed of prime importance to me. Mutual respect and trust is the key for a successful working relationship.

• It is also reasonable that urgency has its cost. If the clients set a very tight but practicable deadline, they will be and rightly so, subject to an additional cost.

• Any translation for which I believe that I am not the most appropriate choice will be declined instantly. Should I know anyone I consider better able to do it, then I will put the client in touch with that person. This will be done only provided that I will not take any personal responsibility for the outcome.

• According to my strong principles, nondisclosure is paramount and is taken as so. My full compliance with nondisclosure will not be limited to the agreed period, but will be extended endlessly.
